Since setting up Sonos I now see my Sonos devices when I click the cast button in Plex, but they just respond "unable to connect to if I click. This doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere as an option but to me, one of the benefits of Plex, beyond the media server is the consistent cross-platform app. I'd rather stay in Plex than use the Sonos app. If that's not possible it would be better if the cast buttons didn't show the Sonos devices as that just looks like something is broken with high WAF.

When playing a track from a "Various Artists" album plex sends the wrong artist tag to Sonos
I you are playing a track from a "Various Artist" album you expect to see the tag from the ARTIST field be displayed in the sonos player so that you can see the artist.
But as of today the tag ALBUM ARTIST is displayed.
On a Various Artist album the ARTIST tag will be the actual artist for each track and the tag ALBUM ARTIST will be "Various Artists" for the whole album.
Playing the same track from the same album through Subsonic on Sonos will display the correct tag I.E. the ARTIST tag.
Happy half-birthday, Plex for Sonos!
Well, almost.. Five months ago today, Plex dropped the Plex for Sonos "beta"
https://www.plex.tv/blog/plex-sonos-better-together/
.. and never spoke of it again.
All I want for Christmas is for someone who works for Plex to post on this forum, once. And in that solitary post, tell us if anything else will ever be done with this software.
Will there be a Christmas miracle?
Sonos App - Plex without remote access
Is it possible to play Plex media off Sonos app without the remote access?
I would like to play the media from within my home and I prefer not to enable the remote access for this.
Thanks
Bug: Album Artist (not Artist) is displayed in Sonos client for currently playing track
This seems to be an issue with some Plex clients generally (I noticed other posts about the Android client related to this), so not sure if this is Plex server or Sonos client issue.
Either way, when playing tracks that have an Album Artist tag, in addition to an Artist tag, the Album Artist gets shown in the Sonos client.
This is definitely undesirable, since you will always see "Various Artists" or whatever in such situations. I think you'd always want to see Artist when a track is playing.
Plex and Sonos: Problems after password change
Hi
I have added my Plex Media Server to my Sonos system as a music service (as you can do with Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, etc.). This has worked well, but since I changed the password for my Plex Media Server, Sonos can no longer access the service. I get a "Unable to contact the Plex Media Server" error message. Apart from the password, I die not change anything with Plex and the remote access is still active.
I have deleted the Plex music service at Sonos several times and also deleted Sonos as a registered device with Plex. Because all this was not useful, I reset my Sonos system (with factory reset) - but the problem still remains.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Sonos Plex Integration defaults to old server
I've recently built a new Plex Server. (I know there is probably an easy way for copy across the settings) but I started from scratch using Windows instead of Linux.
My main problem is that when I navigate to Plex in Sonos it is defaulting to the old Server and this doesn't work. I need to Navigate to Other Libraries and specify the new server.
How can I fix this? I've removed the old server from the Plex Console so I though that would have fixed this.
Thanks
Feature Request - Ability to Seach Across Multiple Libraries on Plex from Sonos App
Hello, I do very much like the Plex/Sonos integration and have been able to set it up without issue. However, I have multiple libraries and noticed that when I search for music from the Sonos app it will only search the currently selected library. I can understand this from the perspective of browsing, but not searching. Can the ability for the search to access all the libraries, regardless of what library is selected, be added to a future release?
Thanks
Ray
Sonos Plex Integration does not let me specify server and it finds the old server
I had a plex server which blew up (hardware). I built another one. I removed the old server from plex devices but when I re-add the sonos integration it finds the old server. How can I make it find the correct new server which has music.
Is there no Image caching?
Using Plex in the SONOS app for Android, Music Artist and Album art takes forever to load up, and then scrolling down the page and back up...it then has to re-load? Is there no way to set up Image caching?
If not, can we at list switch to a List view without art? I didn't see the option.
Unable to play songs in Sonos
Hi
I configured remote access for plex server. I configured plex in my sonos app. I am able to browse the plex library. If i open a album i can't see a album logo. I'm unable to play a song. The application shows me unable to find/connection to plex not possible.
Does it do gapless playback?
Question's in the title
Repeated segment of music
Hi!
Whenever I am playing music in Sonos via the Sonos Plex Service, I note that at the beginning of each track, I quite frequently get a small (say, 1 second) segment of the previous track repeated. It is not the last second of the previous track, it seems to be a random segment.
It is more noticeable with gapless playback. Does not happen with the equivalent album on Apple Music, and I have checked the tracks themselves to ensure they haven't been corrupted - they playback fine in something like VLC...
Thought I would cast around here to see if anyone else has seen this.
Cheers!

Poor transition between tracks when using PLEX in SONOS APP
When playing music via the PLEX media option within the SONOS APP there is an issue with the transition between tracks. It happens every time between tracks/songs. The best way I can explian it is that it sounds like right at the end of the track it picks up a .5 second portion of a track (not sure what track - last, next, other) plays it and then lauches into the next track. It happens between every track transition and is just a bad way to start off every new song. I am running the latest version of the SONOS app and PlayBar firmware. PLEX media server is on my LAN.
4 Suggestions for Sonos/Plex
[First off, great work on the Plex Beta so far.]
Our digital lives are severely hampered while living in Saudi Arabia. The vast majority of Sonos music services are blocked here. Spotify, Google Music, Pandora, Tidal, etc, etc do not appear in the available services section, which is where Plex comes to the rescue!
Please keep up the hard work making further improvements to music discovery, playback features and ease of use.
Here are 4 suggestions to improve the Sonos/Plex experience that I would love some feedback on:
1) Plex Mixes
Starting a Plex Mix should be quicker and easier. After continued use, my family has consistently informed me that it should be easier/more intuitive to start a Plex Mix from the Sonos controller.
Preferred method:
- A) Start Plex Mix needs to be a top level option.
- B) After choosing Start a Plex Mix, then it should ask you to pick either an artist (from which Plex should randomly choose a song by this artist to queue the mix), or allow the user to drill-down to a specific song to queue the mix
- C) Beneath the top-level Plex Mix playback option in the Sonos connect controller, all recent Plex Mixes should be stored so users can quickly access the most recent mixes.
2) Better Shuffling Options
We need to be able to shuffle an artist's entire discography, not just individual albums. Currently you have to choose a specific album and then shuffle it. But when Bob Dylan has 40+ albums, this is a nightmare of choice when you just want all the Dylanz...
3) More Favorites
Allow adding anything and everything to the Sonos Favorites section. Whether it be a specific artist, album, Plex Mix, etc, we should be able to favorite it.
4) Local Playback
Plex server already knows when Sonos is playing/queueing music. So why not enable synchronized local playback of the same tracks on the rest of the Plex connected devices? This would allow the user to utilize their other plex-connected speakers in conjunction with Sonos without needing a Connect or Playbar. ( I.E. my main Plex server runs on a box connected to my home theater run on a Bose ecosystem with a black-box style, all in one receiver. When my server begins playing a Sonos playlist, it would be excellent if I could enable local playback on those speakers as well). Of course, a Plex pkayer would need to be open on that device but that's easy enough. And an audio delay slider would be required in Plex to fine-tune the inevitable sync/delay issues that would be present.
Thanks, and keep up the great work!
Beta development status
Was just wondering - when should we expect updates? Seems like there hasn't been much feedback from the devs here since the initial release, nor have there been any updates since the initial release. Usually deploying a beta is an interactive & incremental process .. should we expect anything or are we just waiting for a final release at some point?
Sonos app Plex service unable to contact the Plex Media Server
The message says Sonos app Plex service unable to contact the Plex Media Server. Please check your server settings at https://plex.tv and make sure that Remote Access is enabled.
When I go to the above web address and sign in, I don't see any option in settings on the web site to enable Remote Access.
However, on my local Plex server, remote Accress is enabled, firewall settings are correct, and port forwarding on my router is setup correctly.
I can connect remotely to my plex server from the plex app. I cannot connect to my plex server from the plex service within the Sonos app. I have authorized the Plex Account within the Sonos app.
What am I missing?
HiRes Support with Plex and Sonos
Hi all.
I know the Plex side of Sonos seems to be mostly working at best. I see many feature requests and agree that full integration with Sonos would really push things to the top.
Right off the bat, where is this with HiRes?
I cannot play any DSD (format: DSF) files at all via Sonos through Plex (both desktop and app). Seems simple enough if it just transcodes to a lesser PCM that Sonos will take. It obviously does this already since the native Plex app plays DSD just fine to my phone.
Oddly enough, high bitrate PCM does work ONLY if I play them through the Windows Sonos desktop application. The very same songs do not work via the Android Sonos app routed through Plex, when added that way...it complains about unsupported format.
The ability to play all resolutions of PCM and DSD would make Sonos much more viable and surpass the ancient 65k song limit that many face.
Any insights?
Kev.
Sonos with PLEX

Unnecessary transcoding (ALAC, others?) on Sonos?
Hi folks, really glad to see the Plex app on Sonos as it solves my two biggest gripes with the Sonos library support - 1) Sort Order tag support and 2) allowing multiple libraries (to sub-divide big collections).
I've got Plex server running on a Synology DS115, which works great from the Sonos library. But from the Plex app for Sonos, it's unable to keep a stream running. Some digging and I figured out that the app must be transcoding (which the little NAS CPU can't keep up with). My files are mostly in Apple Lossless (ALAC) or FLAC, with some in high-bitrate MP3.
The MP3 files play without issue, and with some testing the FLAC files seem to work. ALAC doesn't. All of the above are natively supported by Sonos, so no transcoding is needed - but it appears the app is doing it. I can't tell if FLAC files are being transcoded (since they seem to work and there's no status I can find that says if it's playing MP3 or FLAC).
Can someone confirm that the Sonos Plex app is playing FLAC files without transcoding? As long as that's done natively, I'll convert my ALAC files to FLAC - no problem!
Cheers,
Jeff
